Holiday Stuffing Recipe

Holiday Stuffing with Sausage, Artichokes and Goat Cheese

This VFM spin on the classic holiday stuffing is a sure-fire hit! Loaded with flavor, this is a stuffing recipe you’ll definitely want to hang on to!


  • 1 loaf of crusty sourdough bread or ciabatta cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 lb. of sweet or mild Italian sausage
  • 1 lb of diced cremini mushrooms
  • 1 cup of diced yellow onion
  • 1/2 cup of diced fresh fennel
  • 1 tbsp. of minced fresh garlic
  • 1/2 cup of diced celery
  • 1 cup of chopped marinated artichokes
  • 1/2 cup of chopped roasted red pepper
  • 2 cups of chicken or turkey broth
  • 1 tbsp of fresh sage minced
  • 1 tbsp of fresh thyme minced
  • 1/2 cup of chopped fresh parsley
  • 8 oz. goat cheese crumbles
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup of melted butter
  • Additional butter for coating casserole dish
  • 2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper


  • Large mixing bowl
  • Large casserole dish
  • Large saute pan
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Aluminum foil


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Remove sausage from casing and saute in olive oil, breaking it up while it cooks
  3. When the sausage begins to brown and is cooked remove the sausage from the pan and add mushrooms, onions, fennel, celery and garlic and saute until vegetables become translucent, remove from heat and combine with the sausage
  4. In a large mixing bowl combine, eggs, heavy cream, chicken or turkey broth, mix until incorporated, then add the sauteed mixture, add the roasted red bell peppers,
    artichokes, chopped herbs and cubed bread, mix until all ingredients are incorporated then fold in the goat cheese crumbles
  5. Coat casserole dish with butter and pour mixture into casserole, drizzle melted butter over the top, cover with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes covered, uncover for last 5 minutes or until golden brown, serve warm
